Orlando/Disney 2009

Magic Kingdom

Tamara, the Kids and I got back from Orlando late Tuesday night.  The trip was a blast, we hit up Universal Studios, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Sea World and even managed to get in a day at the Beach and half of a day at Downtown Disney.  I think this is a trip the kids will remember forever I know I will.

We ended up staying at the Crowne Plaza hotel near Universal Studios which turned out to be a great hotel in the perfect location, 2 minutes from Universal, 10 minutes from Sea World and about 10 to Disney.  All of the theme parks were a lot of fun, though the Disney theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios) were more fun and less overall wait times etc than Universal and Sea World.  Sea World was especially crowded and the wait times for the rides were 60-90 minutes.  However, the shows at Sea World were definately worth it, we caught the Shamu (Killer Whale) show “Believe” and the Sea Otter shows.  The Shamu show was especially good.

Also, if anyone out there is planning a trip to Disney World, the one thing I would say to absolutely not miss is the Festival Of The Lion King show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This show was truly amazing and was a nice break to sit for 30 minutes and watch a show in the cool air conditioning versus standing in lines for 30-40 minutes for a 2-5 minute ride.

Our favorite attractions were:

  • Festival Of the Lion King Show (Disney’s Animal Kingdom)
  • The Simpson’s Ride (Universal Studios)
  • Tower Of Terror (Disney’s Hollywood Studios)
  • The Mummy (Universal Studios)
  • Pirates Of the Caribbean (Disney’s Magic Kingdom)
  • Expedition Everest (Disney’s Animal Kingdom)
  • Finding Nemo (Disney’s Epcot)

Pictures from the trip are uploading as I write this.  Please check them out, all comments welcome!  Click the “view more photos” under the  HyypedNet Photo Blog to the right of this post to see the rest of the  pictures in the Orlando/Disney 2009 photo collection.

Why have we given up on Freedom?

“They may take our lives, but they will never take our freedom!” screamed William Wallace in the blockbuster movie Braveheart. This was the moment in the movie when William Wallace was rallying his Scottish countrymen against an insurmountable task of defeating the oppressive British Army and the words nicely summed up what was important in life to him and his countrymen.

Shrinking a Linux VMware image disk size

VMware workstation, Infrustructure and other VWware tools have capabilities built in for resizing your disk when running a Windows VM.  However, there is no such automated support for changing especially reducing the size of your VM disk for Linux VMs.  I have recently been able to accomplish shrinking a Linux VMware disk from 80GB to [...]

HyypedNet

It had been quite some time since I had any presence on the web besides Flickr, Facebook and Twitter. Really, I’ve been wanting to get a new site off the ground for years but… I am not good with the artistic side of web design so I kept putting it off. But as I sat in my office one afternoon working on something forgettable I realized that I am frustrated with far to many things to not be posting my cynicism, sarcasm and other ‘isms into the matrix along with the many other great complainers of the world.
